This song is a “secular song,” but my mom does this thing at our church called, “God Said What?”… which is when you take a modern song / secular song and put it into God’s perspective or what He’s trying to say. So, whenever we hear these secular songs on the radio, which we are all exposed to… we will hear a better message than the one that’s secular.
This song is basically trying to tell us Christians that even though we may see ourselves as different and hurting and full of flaws, God sees us as flawless, beautiful, and perfect. He loves us all the same no matter who we are. No matter what denomination we are. It doesn’t matter what clothes we wear or how old we are. He loves you and me and to Him we are perfect!
ACTS 10:34 (MSG) “It’s God’s own truth, nothing could be plainer: God plays no favorites! It makes no difference who you are or where you’re from—if you want God and are ready to do as He says, the door is open. The Message He sent to the children of Israel—that through Jesus Christ everything is being put together again—well, He’s doing it everywhere, among everyone.”
Remember when we used to play board games when we were little? There was this game called “Cranium Cadoo.” The answer to the questions were on cards. They were hidden behind scribbles. The only way you could see the answer was if you had these red glasses that let you see through the scribbles on the card. (decoder glasses) That is exactly how God looks at us… He sees us through the Red Glasses. We see ourselves as nothing and less than perfect, but God sees past all that. He sees us as perfect! Through our natural eye we can’t see the answer, or our true selves, but God can. He sees us differently than we see ourselves.
Phillipians 14-16 (MSG) Do everything readily and cheerfully—no bickering, no second-guessing allowed! Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night so I’ll have good cause to be proud of you on the day that Christ returns. You’ll be living proof that I didn’t go to all this work for nothing.
God has always had a perfect plan for us (even from before we were born). All we have to do, as Christians, is stay on His path. We must stay in His presence, all day everyday, and He will help us stay on the path of life. There are other paths, but they all lead to “dead ends”. On God’s path there is purpose and satisfaction. We will also have peace and joy.
Jeremiah 29:11(NIV) For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
He knows everything that is going on in our lives. He offers us a forgiven life, but it’s up to us to choose what path to take. We are created in his image, so this means if Jesus can do it, so can we! Being a Christian shows God that we are striving to live that perfect life, but it’s ok if we fall sometimes. Jesus is there to pick us up.
We have to remember that God sees us perfectly. He loves us all the same, no matter how we feel about ourselves. We are “fearfully and wonderfully made” it says in the book of Psalms. If we remain in His presence and rely on Him, we could try and live as Jesus did, being an example to others.
Our goal is to bring 20-30 people into this ministry. So, let’s be bold and tell others that even though we’re not perfect, there is one person who sees you perfectly and that’s Jesus. He loves you for who you are!
