The Power Of Purpose – This Really Happened To Us!

2014 (3-17-2014) The power of purpose

THE LINES OF PURPOSE IN YOUR LIVES NEVER GROW SLACK, TIGHTLY TIED AS THEY ARE TO YOUR FUTURE IN HEAVEN, KEPT TAUT BY HOPE. (COLOSSIANS 1:5 MSG)

Have you ever asked yourself this question, “What on earth does God intend for me to do with my life?” I honestly think that one time or another in life we all have asked this question. It’s an easy question to ask, but for many of us, a difficult question to answer. Why? Because God’s purposes aren’t always clear to us. Sometimes we wander aimlessly in a wilderness of our own making. And sometimes, we struggle mightily against God in an unsuccessful attempt to find success and happiness through our own means, not His.

2014 (2-23-2014) Me and Dan in HiawassseeAlmost six years ago, my husband and I knew our thirty year season of pastoral care, ministering, counseling and teaching at the local church we had given our lives to was coming to a close. The Lord was leading and directing our ministry and life down an entirely different path. However; little did we know at the time what kind of direction that path would take or look like. Talk about a scary place to find yourself when you’re in your sixties. It was a journey led completely by the Holy Spirit. It was a journey of many doors being “slammed shut” and a few being opened. It has been a journey of knowing that they are called to us and us to them. And, one that has taught us some pretty valuable lessons. Oh yes, I asked the question many times to myself…”What do you want for me and for us to do in this life for you Dear God?” It was a very tender, sweet and yet humbling time as my husband and I sought the Lord daily and almost hourly for direction. This journey has been one of priceless learning lessons and tremendous growth and understanding of the ways of God and His leading. We’ve learned how to completely trust Him and to lean not on our own understanding. His ways certainly are not the ways of man. As you draw near to Him, He will help to get you into the “NEW SEASON.” We are living proof of this.

2014 (3-17-2014) A new Season

I learned through the days, weeks and months we endured the “not knowing” for our future that suffering reveals character. As my husband and I searched for God’s will for our lives, those words have become even more evident to us. I learned that suffering in the “not knowing” didn’t produce character but was revealing character. Amazing isn’t it? I am so grateful that God is still in the business of reaching down and lifting people out of difficult situations. I learned that you REALLY CAN always write a “NEW CHAPTER” to your life – don’t remain in the chapter you’re now in when God is moving you forward into a brand new chapter and season. Take His hand and let Him lead you! We have taken this experience in our own life and come through it as Gold. Our ministry, Destiny Navigators (www.DestinyNavigators.org), is now to other churches, leaders and people and we are seeing the hand of a mighty God at work. We have experienced FREEDOM as God leads us ~ a Freedom like none other.  This FREEDOM has produced some pretty awesome life changing experiences and encounters in a Spirit Led life and ministry for us.

Only God’s chosen task will ultimately satisfy. Do not wait until it is too late to realize the privilege of serving Him in His chosen position for you. In the very place where God has put us, whatever its limitations, whatever kind of work it may be, we may indeed serve Christ. How do I love God? By doing beautifully the work I have been given to do, by 2014 (3-17-2014) Psalm 32 - 8doing simply that which he entrusted to me, in whatever form it may take. His life is our light … our purpose and meaning and reason for living! Psalm 32: 8 – “I will instruct you and show you the way to go; with My eye on you. I will give counsel.”

Sometimes, God’s intentions will be clear to you; other times, God’s plan will seem uncertain at best. But even on those difficult days when you are unsure which way to turn, you must never lose sight of these overriding facts: God created you for a reason; He has important work for you to do; and He’s waiting patiently for you to do it. And the next step is up to you. Get involved in your own life!

2014 (3-17-2014) God has a great plan for your life - trust Him

MY PRAYER THIS DAY ~ Dear Lord, You are the Creator of the universe, and I know that Your plan for my life is grander than I can imagine. Let Your purposes be my purposes, and let me trust in the assurance of Your promises. Amen!

Are You A Dream Maker or a Dream Killer!

2013 (8-22-2013) dreamLately, I have been reading articles and hearing people and ministers talk about dreaming big again.

Do you remember being a little child and you had so many dreams about who or what you were going to be when you grew up? You would go and tell your mom or dad that you were going to be a doctor or a nurse and then another day you would say to them you were going to be a policeman. When your parents would ask you why you wanted to be these people, your answer was “I want to save people’s lives”.

How wonderful it was that when we were young, our imaginations would run wild and we truly believed we could do anything that our imaginations could think up. The funny thing is that life has a unusual way of changing our minds and the way we think. Whatever happened to that child like faith?

A friend of mine once told me that there are two types of people in this world, dream makers and dream killers.

Dream makers have an optimistic outlook on life no matter what the challenge of the dream. They always see the bright side and are determined to make it work.
Dream killers are those, that no matter what you say about your dream, they are pessimistic and they always see the negative side of your dream, but they never encourage you to fulfill your dream. Most of the time these individuals are negative because they have missed out on their own dreams.

So which one would you be?

We recently have had one of our missionaries from Africa in to minister at our church. He was sharing his dream in which the Lord had called him to minister to the people of Cameroon, Africa. He went onto say that he was a high school dropout and had no knowledge of the things of the Lord. He did not know how to dream. When he came to know the Lord, he was in his mid thirties, and he could not get enough of God. When he was in his fifties, he received his GED certificate. Since then he has finished four years of college and now that he is in his sixties he is receiving his Doctorate degree. He told us that he learned to dream big, no matter what the age. In order to fulfill the needs of the people of Cameroon, Africa he needed his Doctorate degree.

Earlier in their missionary works, he and his wife had felt called to go to Prague, Czechoslovakia. They left their homeland and traveled to Czechoslovakia. On the way traveling there, he became frustrated because he could not find his way into the city where they needed to be in. He pulled the car over, (loaded with all of their belongings) on the side of the road in frustration. He told his wife, I am done, this is a mistake. He hears the Lord say follow that Taxi cab. He begins to follow the Taxi cab and he looks down at the license plate and it reads, ACT 9-6-7. He tells his wife to look that scripture up in the bible and this is what it said.

Acts 9:6-7
So he trembled and astonished said, “Lord, what do you want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do”. And the men journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one.

The Taxi cab took them to the exact place that they were looking for. God knew his frustration and stepped in. I love how God works on our behalf!

It is ok to get frustrated about a dream that we have, we are only human. Just imagine if this missionary and his wife had given up back in Czechoslovakia, he would have never went on to get his Doctorate degree and begin opening up a school in Cameroon, Africa even their work in India would have had no meaning.

Everyone’s dreams are going to be different, and maybe God will not use a license plate to direct your path, but he will use people or things to get us in the right direction and dream big again in him.

Have that child like faith once more and dream big! Believe that you can do anything that you set your heart to be or do. Dreams do not happen overnight, so keep your faith alive in God, and move away from those who want to crush your dreams that God has given you.

All things are possible through those who dare to believe. Choose this day to be a dream maker and let the Lord enlighten your pathway
