This Girl Is On Fire!

*Minister Vicki Fisher ministers along side of her husband, Pastor Chris Fisher, at Community of the Holy Spirit in Willoughby, Ohio. Each Sunday morning, she shares insights into God’s Word for practical living. This past Sunday morning the title of her message was “THIS GIRL IS ON FIRE!” Even though Minister Vicki is a “Little Ball of Fire for God” herself… she was actually speaking of the Bride of Christ in her message.

Minister Vicki writes “when God first revealed to me the song, This Girl is on Fire by Alicia Keys I thought it was about me. Vicki’s on fireNOPE, that’s not it.  I asked the Lord, who’s the girl?  The Lord said, “It’s my Bride, the church!”  AH-HA!  Moment…What a revelation!”

Yesterday Pastor Dan taught us, what “This girl on fire” looks like.  She looks like the WIFE of Christ mentioned in Revelation 21.

  1. She is trusted to share in God’s glory!
  2. She’s a righteous witness in a world of darkness!
  3. She’s standing on the authority of the Word of God!
  4. She’s marked by equality, justice and integrity!
  5. She’s the permanent dwelling place of God himself!
  6. She has no prejudice within her!
  7. She’s filled with abundance!
  8. She’s redeemed and restored!

What does a church on fire look like?

The girl or THE BRIDE of Christ is a community of God’s love.  Come in Unity community!  Loving people like God loves, that’s what shows the world that we are His disciples and it also shows Jesus that we are mature enough to be His bride.

The church on fire is a community of excitement, joy and unity in fellowship and in worship.  Acts 2:42-47 says that the believers devoted themselves to the apostles teaching… I believe by the turn out at the advance yesterday, that we are devoted.  It also says that they continued to meet together, on a regular basis praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.  God says that he added to their number daily, those who were being saved.  I know that God is adding to our numbers.  Have we not seen that come to fruition?

The girl on fire is a community of the miraculous.  Mark 16:15-17 says “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

Raise your hands, if you are a believer?  Good!  God says you’ve been saved- Hallelujah- That’s a promise!    He also said that signs and wonders will follow… Through the Holy Spirit, we place our hands on the sick and they will get well.  How many of you have been used to lay hands on someone?  I know today, that the elders are going to lay hands on you, and you will get well.

This girl on fire is a spirit filled church. We are full of His Spirit… Our Spirit filled souls are ablaze for God. We love with a love that glows. We serve with a faith that kindles. We serve with a devotion that consumes. This girl on fire hates sin with a fierceness that burns. We rejoice with a joy that radiates.  The Holy Spirit is preparing us to be the mature Bride that Christ is coming for.
